Senior Software Engineer

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to help shape the future of a cloud-based automation platform, for a leading client in the banking sector in Amsterdam. This is a hands-on role where you'll combine software architecture, technical leadership and development to build scalable, secure and innovative solutions. You'll work closely with stakeholders and engineering teams to drive continuous improvement and deliver high-quality software.

Your Job

• Define and evolve the software architecture and technical roadmap.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to identify improvement opportunities and translate business needs into technical solutions.
• Guide the development team in implementing scalable, cloud-native solutions.
• Drive engineering best practices, including code quality, testing, CI/CD, and security.
• Contribute to the codebase with hands-on development in a modern cloud environment.
• Promote innovation and automation, including the use of Machine Learning where relevant.
• Mentor team members through knowledge sharing, code reviews, and technical coaching.

• 5+ years of experience in software engineering, with experience in architecture and technical leadership.
• Strong knowledge of modern software design patterns and event-driven architectures.
• Hands-on experience with Azure, serverless technologies, Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD.
• Excellent coding skills in Python, JavaScript, and Node.js.
• Experience with messaging platforms (Kafka, Azure Service Bus), SQL/NoSQL databases, and monitoring tools such as Grafana and Prometheus.
• Familiar with modern testing methodologies, including TDD and BDD.
• A security-first mindset with a pragmatic approach to problem-solving.
• Strong communication skills, stakeholder management experience, and a collaborative mindset.
